Milo
Milo’s Journey: From the Road to Our Hearts
One quiet Sunday afternoon, our staff spotted a thin, hungry dog eating roadkill on the road just outside our resort. Without hesitation, they brought him inside, gave him a warm bath, a nourishing meal, and — most importantly — some much-needed love.
We soon discovered that this sweet pup had a microchip, and we immediately partnered with our local Humane Society to try and reunite him with his family. After two weeks of searching, it became clear that we wouldn’t be able to reconnect him with his original home — so we welcomed him into ours.
We named him Milo. Though he was finally safe, we noticed Milo remained underweight despite receiving high-quality meals every day. Concerned, we brought him to our trusted friends at Foundations Animal Hospital for a checkup. Bloodwork revealed elevated liver values, and Milo was started on special medication and vitamin E. After a month of treatment, a follow-up appointment and abdominal ultrasound confirmed our worst fear: a spot on his liver is suspected to be cancerous.
Because of this diagnosis, Milo has been removed from our list of adoptable pets. Instead, he will remain a cherished member of our resort family — for as long as we’re lucky enough to have him.
We are determined to make every one of Milo’s days joyful. From now on, his time will be filled with love, treats, car rides, and new adventures. A photo shoot with our staff is planned soon, and we’re committed to making his remaining days the most memorable of his life.
If you feel led to support our mission to give Milo the best life possible, here are a few of his favorite things:
Milk Bones
Creamy Peanut Butter
Low Sodium Chicken Broth
Baby Food (Gerber – protein varieties)
Squeaky Toys
Long Walks & ExploringThough this isn’t the outcome we hoped for, we find peace in knowing that Milo has experienced safety, care, and unconditional love. And we promise that for the rest of his days, he will continue to feel just how deeply he is cherished.

Rufus

Rufus is one of our recent rescues! This sweet boy wandered into the back yard of one of our clients. His hair was matted, and he was in dire need of grooming & medical attention. Our clients brought him to us & asked us to help! How could we say no to this face?
One of our groomers, Tammy, stepped in and offered her assistance to make him more comfortable then we sought out the veterinary care he needed! Our clients requested that we name him Rufus, and we thought it was the perfect old man name for him!

After a short life on the streets outside of Hot Springs, Biscuit was picked up by one of our resort clients. We estimate that Biscuit was four to five weeks old at that time. He was covered in fleas, had a few facial wounds, and had clearly never been loved. When we met that little kitten, we were immediately smitten and knew he would be the perfect addition to our posh family! After a few visits to his veterinarian, he is a happy, healthy, growing boy!
Biscuit’s days are now filled with greeting clients & their pets, toys, cuddles, and lots of naps. Biscuit has his own chair in our reception area, his own suite in our Serenity Room, and he loves to be out and mingle with other pets at our resort!

Gravy
Status: RESORT CAT
This sweet boy was found in the road by one of our posh families. Covered in fleas, and clearly undernourished, we agreed to take him in & rehabilitate him. The children of the resort had been asking for a gray kitten to be named Gravy (hence, Biscuit & Gravy) and they finally got their wish!
Gravy is a laid back yet playful, lazy with bursts of energy cat! He loves everyone - human and cat (and even wants to meet the dogs at times), and he has been such a joy to have! We never expected him to be a large cat, but he has surprised us at how tall and long he has become!

Waffles
Status: RESORT CAT
Waffles was found when Brantley & his family were moving their hot tub. Apparently, this small kitten had taken up residence in the bottom of the hot tub to stay safe & warm. With no momma cat in sight, Brantley could not leave this kitten outside. He brought her to the resort, where she was quickly named Waffles (to go along with our breakfast food theme)!
Waffles is a bit more timid than the other resort cats, but she does open up on her own time. She loves to play, and can be found sleeping in Biscuit’s suite or stealing someone else’s treats and toys! She is full of life, and we are so thankful that she is safe - and that she is ours!

Syrup
Status: RESORT CAT
What goes better with Waffles than SYRUP?!
A resort client found a tiny kitten on Snapps Ferry Road in the middle of the Hurricane Helene rainstorm. Soaking wet, cold, and very scared, this baby came to our resort in need of all the love and care we could give. We began syringe feeding him every few hours, keeping him warm with rice socks & blankets straight out of the dryer, and showing him that we were trustworthy.
The staff couldn’t wait to name this baby Syrup to continue the breakfast food theme! Syrup is the best snuggler, loves to play, and enjoys all our resort has to offer. We had no intention of having another resort cat when he came along, but we couldn’t imagine life without him!

Flapjack
Status: RESORT CAT
Our friend, and the gentleman we purchased our property from, found this kitten in his barn. He was pictured sitting on the gentleman’s shoulder and being very open to affection. He had an upper respiratory infection and needed veterinary care, so we agreed to take him in. Our original plan was to get him adopted, but he stole our hearts very quickly!
Originally named Barney, due to being found in a barn, this sweet boy captured the staff’s attention with how gentle and sweet he was. The staff decided to rename him Flapjack in hopes we could keep him forever. Thus, he is officially part of the breakfast crew!

Prince
Status: RESORT DOG
Prince was Robin’s first Animal Control save in early 2020. He was found roaming not far from Interstate 81 in Northern Greene County, and was clearly a stray. Animal Control officers picked him up, and he was posted on their Facebook page by volunteers.
His time was up at Animal Control, and Robin could not get him off her mind. After meeting him in person, it was obvious he’d found his forever home.
Robin realized this boy didn’t really bark. Instead he “sings”, hence the name Prince!
Prince began visiting the resort shortly after it opened, and he has made many friends! He is regularly used to test new dogs, and he is always happy to make new human friends as well!
